IT Asset Lifecycle Management
Streamlining the Procurement, Deployment, Maintenance, and Disposal of IT Assets
IT Asset Lifecycle Management (ITALM) begins with the asset procurement phase, which involves identifying business needs, selecting appropriate hardware or software, and acquiring assets through approved vendors. Once procured, assets are recorded in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) with details such as serial number, location, assigned user, and warranty information. Deployment procedures include configuring the asset to meet organizational standards, securing it with endpoint protection, and assigning it to end-users using asset tracking tools integrated with IT Service Management (ITSM) systems.
During the maintenance phase, regular audits, patch management, and performance monitoring are conducted to ensure asset integrity and compliance. Any incidents or service requests related to the asset are logged and linked to the asset record for traceability. When assets reach the end of their usable life, the decommissioning process involves secure data wiping, asset recovery, and environmentally responsible disposal or recycling. The CMDB is updated to reflect the asset's retired status, ensuring accurate lifecycle tracking and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
